The Middle Falls of the Genesee River in Letchworth State Park is easily the largest and most spectacular of the three falls. (Please see Letchworth State Park for an overview of the park.) The Middle Falls is 107 feet high, about 285 feet wide, and faces the northeast. The water falls uninterrupted at the right side of the picture, while the remainder is nearly vertical or very steeply terraced. There is a walkway along the north side of the falls, and along the top of the river gorge downstream of the falls, with a nice walled overlook opposite the falls. There was good water flow in the river when we were there. It was mid-afternoon on a sunny day and there was always a beautiful rainbow below the falls.
GPS Location
The GPS position at the walkway by the falls is 42°35’0.022″ N, 78°2’37.434″ W.
