2018 Philadelphia Flower Show

The Philadelphia Flower Show is the longest-running and largest horticulture showcase in the world. The 2018 theme was “Wonders of Water,” which emphasized the life-sustaining role that water plays in tropical, temperate, and arid landscapes.

The image above was a very large exhibit in the entrance foyer by Subaru, who was a major sponsor. There were many small Subaru exhibits throughout the flower show in addition to this one.

I remember attending the Philadelphia Flower Show with my father as a child and being impressed with the size of the show and the beauty of the flowers, plants, and trees. At that time, the flower show was held in the Philadelphia Civic Center near the University of Pennsylvania campus. Now, the flower show is held in the Pennsylvania Convention Center in downtown Philadelphia, which includes the building which housed the old Reading Terminal train shed.

This past spring, Beverly and I visited the flower show with my older daughter. The flower show was held from March 3 to 11. The crowded conditions (way too people) made it difficult to easily view and photograph the displays.

In the Additional Photos section below, the camera was hand-held against a rock for Flower Show 7. I was amazed that there was no camera motion visible in the photo.
