After leaving the Red Rock Visitor Center and Ranger Station, we continued north on Rt. 179 toward Sedona. Just north of the Village of Oak Creek, the next location with a good view was at the Bell Rock/Courthouse Butte Trailhead parking area. This is the view of the south side of Courthouse Butte, which is about 0.6 miles away.
This image of Courthouse Butte is also an HDR (High Dynamic Range) panorama which was made from 15 separate photos. The panorama consists of five HDR images created using Aurora software, each of which is a combination of three separate images taken at three different exposures. (For an explanation of these techniques, please see the Definitions page.)
Courthouse Vista is another parking area which is farther north of the Bell Rock/Courthouse Butte Trailhead parking area. We stopped there, where I took the photos which make up Courthouse Butte HDR Panorama 3, in the Additional Images section below. It is a view of the northwest side of Courthouse Butte and is an HDR panorama which was made from 9 separate photos.
