In August 2017, Beverly said there was a Monarch Butterfly on the Butterfly Bush beside our Koi pond. I quickly put the telephoto lens on my camera and went outside to see it. I was only able to take a few photos of the Monarch Butterfly before it flew away but then another butterfly landed on the same Butterfly Bush. I took a number of photos of that one, and in this award winning1 photo, I was able to almost fill the frame with the flower and butterfly.
After some research, I found this to be an Eastern Tiger Swallowtail Butterfly of the yellow variety. The coloring of it most likely identifies it as a female.
We have received so many compliments on this photo that we have had note cards printed so others can share this image. Please view our Shop to see these and other note cards.
