The Edith J. Carrier Arboretum is a public, urban garden and forested 125 acre green space on the James Madison University campus in Harrisonburg, VA. It preserves native species, provides opportunities for research, and promotes knowledge of the botanical and natural world. There are 16 exhibit gardens along more than three miles of walking trails through a mature oak-hickory forest.
It was a beautiful sunny day early in September 2024 and we had some spare time between two appointments, so we stopped at the arboretum and took a short walk around the pond to view and photograph some of the flowers.
