In April 2018, my son and his friends were hunting in western Amherst County, VA. I had business nearby and stopped by their camp one afternoon. While we were talking I noticed several squirrels in a hollow, broken-off sycamore tree across the stream, about 40 feet from where we were sitting. In addition to the opening where the top had broken off, the hollow tree had four openings facing us where there had been branches. The two squirrels seemed to be playing as they were constantly popping out of different holes and out the hollow top. We jokingly referred to the four holes as 1st floor through 4th floor (bottom to top) and the hollow top as the penthouse, so in the featured image, the squirrels are at the 3rd floor and the penthouse.
