We photographed Norfolk & Western No. 611 Class J steam engine pulling the Shenandoah Valley Limited excursion train near Ferrol, VA. The Class J has a 4-8-4 wheel arrangement, known as a 'Northern' type engine.

One afternoon in late December we saw clouds which showed multiple colors which changed as we watched. I have since learned that this formation of colors in clouds, known as irisation, is relatively rare.
